- Sometimes you are amazed by how efficient is a public service: this time it is the Waitakere Libraries here in Auckland, New Zealand… #
- … they have a pretty decent books collection, but the software development part is full of outdated books and our field moves quickly… #
- …So I discovered that the libraries have an online service where you can browse the collection, put book on hold for you, and… #
- …You can even ask them to buy books ! I went crazy and picked up 10 very recent books (end of 2008- early 2009) about .Net, Python, Jquery #
- … and they bought half of my list (already). The libraries are going to rock ! jQuery 1.3 books on the shelves, Python and Django, WPF… #
- … LINQ and more. If you are in Auckland area, take a library card (this is free). I already put them on hold for me since they are hot !!! #
- RT @amyiris Guys, This Python Script will make yours bigger http://twurl.nl/whm6cx What CAN’T Python do? #
- Guess what ? If you are in Python and C# .Net you are right into the trends. If you are still thinking Java or Visual Basic, think again… #
- And to prove the point. The trends in book sales: http://ping.fm/tExvb and also look here: http://ping.fm/cUnKT #
- And jobs wise: http://ping.fm/0Heqo
C#, Python are steadily growing. Visual basic is decreasing over time, but Java is still growing # - According to recruitment professionals here in NZ, the market is demanding more and more C# developers for new projects… #
- … but also a lot of Java programmer (seniors) to maintain complex applications in place or to finish overdue projects. True feedback. #
