  • This year CMS awards: Wordpress 1st and ModX and Silverstripe in a tie 2nd.
I agree about ModX and Silverstripe, I rated them best recently. #
  • But I do think Wordpress is not a real CMS. This is a blog engine with lots of modules and a nice admin interface. #
  • But Wordpress themes and modules are plain ugly non OOP PHP for the most part. No clear direction, code or architecture. This is spaghetti. #
  • @isbangee Thanks. Nice site. First time I go there. in reply to isbangee #
  • If you try to debug in Komodo IDE and get a blank page when starting debugging, first check prefs you are not rejecting all remote debug. #
  • I have been porting a MySql 4.0 database to 5.0 and I am mostly done. However I am wondering if there is tools to help with that. #

  • This is getting harder to borrow some of the books I made the Waitakere Libraries buy. There is a few developers around that joined :-) . #
  • By the way if you don't have a Waitake Library card yet, get it ! It is free and the collection has a few gems for developers. #
  • Also if you joined the Waitakere Libraries, log online and make suggestions. We will grow the collection more easily if we are several askin #
  • My daugther amazed me. She reached 2 recently and she became fond of her mother iPod Touch because there is 1-2 movies in it…. And… #
  • … And my daughter understood how to slide to access the icons, slide through the pages, recognize the icons and tap them. #
  • My sons a bit older learned using a mouse around 3, and if it neeeded to be demonstrated, a touch interface is far more intuitive for starte #
  • Usually tweets ar a bit too small for my style. 140 characters are not quite enough. Usually I wish I had around 10 more. Too verbose maybe. #

  • New contender in the Javascript Frameworks world (from Google this time): http://bit.ly/3A4HOZ #
  • The Closure compiler is indeed nice. You can try online. I am wondering how it compares to the YUI-Compressor. #
  • Also the Google Closure library may be a bit heavy but like Dojo it seems to load modules on demand. The UI elements are nice anyway. #
  • A day full of good releases. I talked about Unity3D for aspiring game developers. Today we get the Free Unreal Engine: http://www.udk.com/ #
  • A remarks concerning the Unreal Engine (UDK). IT is good to develop indie for windows only. Unity is still the best choice for cross platfor #
  • I just realised that Mercurial the version control system has changed their website. The new site is very clean and nice. #
  • By the way if you want to upgrade from subversion and need a VCS not bloated and reliable: http://mercurial.selenic.com/ The best DCVS. #

  • I have been looking at CMS lately. Mostly in PHP since it fits my target better. I am accointed to Joomla and Drupal already. But results… #
  • Most promising CMS I found, both developer and designer/content manager friendly: SilverStripe, ModX and Concrete5. #
  • SilverStripe and ModX in particular are clean, OOP and have great admin interfaces. They should get more love they currently have. #
  • Great news for indy game developers and to some extend people looking at publishing iPhone games. Unity 3D is now free for indies. #
  • Please note that Unity for iPhone is still worth 399$, but you can develop for free and prototype on MAC or Windows and sell on these. #
  • And Unity is coming to Xbox360, a serious contender for Microsoft XNA. Moreover since Unity uses Mono, the free .Net implementation. #
  • By the way, for iPhones, Unity compiles code into native code, which means your are safe to sell it on the App Store and Apple hassle-free. #
  • Some know that I love my local library. The Waitakere Libraries in the Auckland region, NZ. I suggested tons of excellent books they bought. #
  • And they bought ‘Even Faster Website’ from Steve Souders which is a must read. Unfortunately it took the rain: my fault :-( . #
  • But I insisted to pay for the book and so they can buy a brand new copy. The book is perfectly readable, pages were wet but they are intact. #
  • I have to wait 2-3 months before suggesting half a dozen books again. They already bought more than a dozen this year: .net,python,jquery… #
  • So again: I LOVE the Waitakere libraries. If you live in the Auckland region, take a look in the catalogue, there is stuff for developers. #
  • I would like to say that I am honestly impressed by the system engineers in my new company: a NZ hosting company. They are top notch ! #

  • My last tweet was removed from Facebook. Apparently criticizing is not welcome. #
  • Speaking of being critical, I am glad we have organization and actually TV shows that try services and give strong opinions. #
  • My guess is that Facebook being in the US is more likely to filter any comments that are not overly friendly. #
  • But what will the world looks like if there was only praise ? Moreover in my case, I am working in the field, so I have a pretty good idea. #
  • And I finally removed my critical tweets, minus 1. I kept the must important one: I have been robbed for a work I did. #
  • I would not be surprised the company I was referring to asked Facebook to remove my critical tweet. Truth hurts. #
  • So please accept my apologizes mighty Facebook, I will not specify a company name, with a “personal attack” again. Only Love :-) . #
  • @rickerbh Yes they apparently paid. I just hope they will get their website sorted soon. I just checked they redirect it elsewhere now. in reply to rickerbh #

  • Looking for a web company or web designer in New Zealand? NEVER ever work with Pierre from pierre.co.nz (site down) or sellla.net. #
  • I have just been robbed by Pierre.co.nz. Did a work, didn’t get paid. The money went to the lazy owner and then he cut communication. #
  • A proof of the lousy work of Pierre.co.nz: http://pastis.co.nz A fantastic place that doesn’t deserve a such terrible website. #
  • Oh and the best: it took 1 year for pierre.co.nz to achieve this terrible result for its poor customer pastis.co.nz. No competition there. #
